Trade Compass Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 22, 2026
This privacy policy covers Trade Compass, a training app for students and technicians in HVAC/R, automotive, small engines and boating, published by Impact Code Analysis LLC. It explains what the app does with information, which is very little: there is no account, and nothing about you is sent to us.
The short version
- No account, no sign in, and no personal information requested.
- No ads, no analytics and no crash reporting services.
- Your progress is saved only on your phone.
- Photos you take in the app are read on your phone and are never uploaded.
- Subscriptions are handled by Google Play. We never see your payment details.
What we collect
Nothing. Trade Compass does not collect personal information and does not send information about you or how you use the app to us or to anyone else.
What stays on your phone
Your lesson progress, quiz scores, missed questions, bookmarks, language choice and study reminder setting are saved on your phone so you can pick up where you left off. They never leave your phone. You can erase them any time in Settings > Reset all progress, or by uninstalling the app.
Camera and photos
The nameplate reader, label reader and tool identifier use the camera only when you tap them, or let you pick a photo you already have. Photos are read on your phone by Google ML Kit text and barcode recognition and by the app's own tool model, which all run on the device. Photos and the text read from them are not uploaded and are not sent to us or anyone else.
The tool identifier's Collect photos screen saves the photos you take for it on your phone, so you can help train the tool model. They stay on your phone until you delete them, clear the app's data or uninstall the app. They leave your phone only if you tap Export and choose where to send them with your phone's share menu.
You can turn off the camera permission at any time in your phone's settings. The rest of the app keeps working.
Chemical safety lookups
The Chemical safety section can look up a chemical on PubChem, a free public database run by the US National Institutes of Health. When you search there, the chemical name you typed is sent to PubChem. When your phone is online, the app also asks PubChem every 30 days for updated hazard data on the chemicals saved in the app, using PubChem's compound numbers. No personal information is sent with these requests. PubChem's own policies are at ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/home/about/policies.
Content updates
If content updates are turned on, the app downloads a lesson and question file from our website about every 12 hours when your phone is online. Only the file is requested. No information about you is sent.
Notifications
If you turn on a study reminder, the app schedules a daily notification on your phone. No server is involved. Turn it off any time in Settings.
Subscriptions and payments
Trade Compass is free to download. Each trade can be unlocked with a yearly subscription bought through Google Play. Google handles the payment under the Google Privacy Policy, and the app asks Google Play on your phone which subscriptions are active. We never receive your card, payment details or purchase history.
You can cancel any time in the Google Play app under Payments and subscriptions.
Ads
Trade Compass has no ads.
Children
Trade Compass is meant for adults and older teens training for a trade. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Deleting your data
Everything the app saves is on your phone, so you are always in control of it. Use Settings > Reset all progress to clear your progress, or uninstall the app to remove everything it saved. Because we do not collect your information, we have nothing stored about you to delete. If you have a question about this, email us and we will reply within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If a future version adds a feature that sends information off your phone, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the feature will ask you first. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed.
