A field guide to the seven intelligence pillars
The Impact Team·August 20, 2026
The Overall score blends seven pillars. Here's what each is really measuring.
- Code Quality — complexity, maintainability, duplication, docs. Low = hard to change safely.
- Security — real vulnerabilities (deep Semgrep, always on) plus dependency CVEs. Low = exposure.
- Architecture — coupling, cycles, layering. Low = changes ripple unpredictably.
- Temporal — churn and stability over time. Low = thrash.
- Business Value — how much of the code is doing load-bearing work.
- Human — ownership concentration and bus-factor. Low = knowledge risk.
- Ecosystem — dependency health and license posture.
A repo that's an A on Code Quality and a D on Human isn't a great repo — it's a fragile one with a single point of failure. The blend is the point.
